After working at the firm for 14 years until 2020, Katrina Pedersen has rejoined Shine Lawyers as legal practice manager in the Toowoomba office.

Pedersen’s career started almost 30 years ago as a legal assistant before working her way up from an administrative role while studying law. She has been a practising lawyer for 25 years, 14 of which were previously spent at Shine Lawyers. Most recently, she worked at Slater & Gordon as a principal compensation lawyer.

Pedersen has been a resident of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs for the past 12 years and is heavily involved in her local community – she is currently the regional ambassador for the Women Lawyers Association Queensland and has also been a casual academic at the University of Southern Queensland’s School of Law for the last decade.

“I love the Toowoomba team, and I love what Shine Lawyers stands for. The culture here is amazing; we all have the same goals in achieving great outcomes for our clients. This is the birthplace of the firm, and it’s a real privilege for us to be the custodians of the next chapter of an already rich and proud history,” she said.

“It’s amazing to see the growth we’ve had from our original office here in Toowoomba to becoming an international law firm. Half of my life as a lawyer has been with Shine, so I feel like I’m home.”

This comes after the firm promoted 47 people to more senior roles across the country in January.

Shine Lawyers chief legal officer Lisa Flynn said she’s thrilled to welcome Pedersen back to the firm.

“Katrina’s passion for her clients has been a hallmark of her career,” she said.

“It’s great to have her back at the firm, and we’re excited to see her lead our Toowoomba team into its next chapter.”
