G+T adds another Dentons partner to its ranks
National law firm Gilbert + Tobin has taken another partner from global rival Dentons, this time for its banking and projects group.
Stanley Mok (pictured) has joined the partnership at Gilbert + Tobin and will sit in the BigLaw firm’s Sydney-based banking and projects group.
He specialises, the firm said, in securitisation, structured finance and derivatives. His practice extends to residential and commercial mortgage originators, fintech start-ups, consumer finance companies and organisations in the vehicle and equipment loan sectors.
Mok joins the firm from global rival Dentons, where he spent over six and a half years, including nearly four years as a partner. He has also served at Ashurst and Allens.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of financial services partner Rachel Walker, who also joined G+T from Dentons last month.
It also follows G+T elevating four lawyers to partner and half a dozen to special counsel in late May, the firm’s integration of a boutique banking and finance practice into its Perth operations in February last year, the appointment of UniSuper’s GC as a new partner in the same month, the nabbing of a partner from Pinsent Masons in late December, and in the same month, the arrival of a partner and her team from Clayton Utz.
G+T head of banking and projects John Schembri said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Stanley to our team.
“His broad and deep expertise in securitisation will give our clients access to outstanding insight and experience in a highly complex area.
“Our clients across a range of industries will be accessing this market more and more. Stanley’s knowledge and capability enables us to continue to deliver a first-rate offering to our clients.”
Mok said: “I’m delighted to join G+T and build a securitisation practice within a firm that prioritises exceptional client service alongside the best banking and capital markets teams in the market.”
