Effective this month, insurance lawyer Stephanie Huestis has been promoted to the Carter Newell partnership, based in Brisbane.

Huestis has been with the firm since 2018 and has practised for more than a decade in personal injury, property and product liability. She has extensive experience defending claims and considering complex policy interpretation issues across a variety of jurisdictions and is also the immediate past president of Women in Insurance Queensland.

Carter Newell chair of partners Paul Hopkins said he was “delighted” to welcome Huestis to the partnership as she is “an energetic, highly regarded insurance lawyer”.

“Her industry involvement and passion for achieving excellence resonates in the team, and she will be a fantastic leader within her new role,” he said.

“Aspirational and highly motivated, we are proud of the outcomes she has achieved at Carter Newell, for clients and as a professional – and look forward to what lies ahead for her as partner.”

The new appointment in the Brisbane office is one of several for the broader Carter Newell team, with Nina Abangan, Ashwin Devanathan, and Hayley Nankivell elevated to senior associate and Caitlin Strange promoted to associate.

Carter Newell chief executive officer Marc Walker said: “We proudly make it a focus to foster talent at Carter Newell, and it’s always fantastic to see that approach transpire. Congratulations to all of these team members for their achievements. We look forward to continuing to support their continued success at the firm.”
