A decision of Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC to reappoint Pringle to CEO and principal registrar was welcomed by federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus and Chief Justice William Alstergren AO.

Pringle said he was “very grateful” to continue his work with “such skilled and dedicated judges, registrars and staff in the courts”.

“None of the great achievements of the courts over recent years could have been possible without the tremendous vision and leadership of the Chief Justice,” Pringle added.

“I very much look forward to working with the Chief Justice and everyone in the courts, as well as government and the shared services team supporting the courts, in the important future initiatives to be undertaken in support of all Australians seeking to access justice.”

Pringle commenced in the roles in September 2019, following his time as leading registrar with the Federal Court of Australia, with specialist skills in resolving large and complex mediation.

Prior to his work with the federal courts, Pringle was a partner in commercial, IP and other litigation.

In 2024, he was recognised with the Public Service Model for his work in implementing significant family law reforms, general federal law and migration alongside the Chief Justice.

Chief Justice Alstergren said Pringle’s leadership and work supporting the leadership judges with the court’s administrative affairs “has been critical to the many reforms and achievements since his appointment”.

“David has led the registrars, court child experts and staff in a dedicated manner, and works tirelessly with the corporate entity and relevant government departments to advocate for the needs and interests of our courts,” Chief Justice Alstergren said.

“We are very lucky to have such an enthusiastic and hard-working person fulfilling this important role.”
