Sparke Helmore names new partner
National law firm Sparke Helmore has elevated a member of its CTP and casualty insurance practice to partner.
Lauren McHugh (pictured) has been promoted to partner within Sparke Helmore’s CTP and casualty insurance practice group, effective 1 January.
Prior to her promotion to partner, she held the position of special counsel at Sparke Helmore for one year.
With over 12 years of experience within the insurance sector, the national law firm shared that McHugh specialises in areas including CTP, public liability, medical negligence and claims related to historical abuse.
Throughout her career, McHugh has represented a diverse array of clients, ranging from “insurers, doctors, allied health professionals, state and territory government bodies, and compulsory third-party insurers”.
Additionally, McHugh possesses significant expertise in managing complex claims across various areas, including indemnity, vicarious liability, fraud, extension of time, causation and liability related to third-party recoveries.
McHugh graduated with a bachelor of law and legal practice at Flinders University in 2012.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, she spent seven years at Finlaysons, advancing through the roles of lawyer, associate, and senior associate. She also held the position of senior at Barry Nilsson.
Matthew Seisun, the CTP insurance practice group leader at Sparke Helmore, expressed his pride in McHugh’s promotion to partner, commending her hard work and dedication in achieving this milestone.
“This promotion is a testament to the dedication she has shown in achieving this significant career milestone. Lauren is an exceptionally talented lawyer who is highly regarded by her clients. I am excited to see her continue to grow her practice and contribute to the success of the CTP and casualty teams,” Seisun said.
This news follows the national law firm’s appointment of a team from HWL Ebsworth to its workplace practice in November, hiring a speciality lines partner from Clyde & Co a week later, and taking a corporate and commercial team from that global practice in late October.
