Duncan Webber (pictured) has joined Moray & Agnew as a partner in its Canberra office, where he will lead the firm’s property practice in the region. He will also collaborate closely with the firm’s national property and development team to support clients throughout the ACT and NSW.

He joins from KPMG Law, where Webber served as the director of the real estate advisory and transactions team for nearly two years. During his tenure there, Moray & Agnew indicated that he offered commercial and financial advisory services to clients nationwide, including “development feasibility, accommodation strategies, and commercial structuring”.

With over 12 years of expertise in advising clients within the property and real estate sector, the national law firm expressed that Webber possesses extensive experience in a wide range of property-related matters, including “transaction, advisory and development matters”.

Webber graduated from the Australian National University with a bachelor of laws. He then completed a graduate diploma in legal practice at the Australian National University.

Commenting on his appointment, Webber said: “I am delighted to be joining Moray & Agnew – the firm’s strong existing national platform and current property and commercial service offering provides a great value proposition for clients who are looking for quality pragmatic advice and direct access to their legal advisors.”

“The growing depth of the firm’s property offering across ACT and NSW and working closely with Fiona Nelson from our NSW practice is something that I am really excited about.”

Emma Reilly, the managing partner of Moray & Agnew’s Canberra office, expressed her enthusiasm about Webber joining the firm and the extensive expertise and knowledge he brings in property and real estate matters.

“Duncan brings great experience to the firm for the benefit of our public and private sector clients in line with their increasing property and real estate requirements. His expertise is significant as we continue to expand our capabilities in Canberra with strategic hires and promotions,” Reilly said.

The news follows the firm’s elevating 17 lawyers to more senior roles at the start of January, appointing a new medical negligence partner at the end of 2024, the addition of an insurance partner in Western Australia last year and a property partner in Melbourne in August, as well as the firm’s promotion of 26 lawyers, including five to partner, in early July and the addition of a new corporate and commercial partner from rival BigLaw firm Mills Oakley in June.
