Global law firm Baker McKenzie has moved to strengthen its banking and finance ranks with the hire of a Sydney-based partner, who most recently served at BigLaw rival Hogan Lovells.
Bryan Paisley has returned to Baker McKenzie, where he worked as a partner between 2007 and 2020.
Following that first stint, he served nearly five years at Hogan Lovells, which – as reported in September – exited the Australian market.
His corporate finance experience, Bakers said in a statement, includes acting for banks, credit funds, investors, and borrowers on a range of corporate debt facilities, leveraged and acquisition finance transactions, real estate deals, fund financings, secondary debt transactions, and distressed refinancing.
This news follows the appointment of a former general counsel as a new construction partner in Brisbane in November and the firm’s naming of a new India chair in the same month.
Speaking about his new role, Paisley said: “I am excited to return to Baker McKenzie at a time of significant growth.
“The firm offers an unrivalled global platform that will provide my clients access to both local and international markets with the ability to execute effectively, virtually anywhere in the world. In the coming months, I look forward to reconnecting with old friends and familiar faces.”
Bakers national managing partner Anne-Marie Allgrove said: “Bryan has 25+ years’ experience in private practice, having worked in Australia, London, and Northern Ireland.
“He is a highly respected banking and finance partner at the top of his game. We are delighted to welcome him back.”
