Moray & Agnew adds medical negligence partner
National law firm Moray & Agnew has added a new partner in Melbourne, who joins from Rigby Cooke.
Moray & Agnew has appointed Adam Stevens as its newest partner in Melbourne, further bolstering its insurance practice.
Stevens joins from Rigby Cooke Lawyers, where he recently launched the firm’s medical practice – and his expertise spans the full spectrum of the medical industry: acting for defendant medical practitioners in litigated matters in Victorian County Court and Victorian Supreme Court; general practitioners, general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, bariatric surgeons, plastic surgeons, vascular surgeons, ENTs, obstetricians, gynaecologists, urologists, gastroenterologists, anaesthetists, psychiatrists, and cardiologists.
“I am very happy to be joining Moray & Agnew as a partner,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to working with my clients and being able to provide them with expertise and assistance in Victoria and across all jurisdictions.”
The news follows the addition of an insurance partner in Western Australia last week and a property partner in Melbourne in August, as well as the firm’s promotion of 26 lawyers, including five to partner, in early July and the addition of a new corporate and commercial partner from rival BigLaw firm Mills Oakley in June.
Steven’s appointment, Melbourne managing partner Bill Papastergiadis OAM said, is both “strategically important and culturally significant”.
“Strategic in terms of our firm continuing to build on its already leading insurance presence and thus solidifying us as one of the leading firms in Australia in this area of practice. Our firm is committed to investing in one of its core business sectors, being insurance,” he said.
“Culturally, Adam is a valuable addition to our partnership as he will add to our culture of dynamic, personable people, who all contribute not only to the firm but also to the social fabric of our community. Moray & Agnew in Melbourne has been one of the fastest-growing firms, and this appointment adds to this growth whilst also being an indicator of our firm being such a great place for us all to work.”
