Clayton Utz names 8 new partners
National law firm Clayton Utz has promoted eight lawyers to its partnership, effective 1 January.
Clayton Utz has named eight new partners, all but one of whom sit in the firm’s commercial litigation or major projects and construction practice groups.
The new partners are Will Atfield (commercial litigation, Melbourne), Yvette Fenton and Sam Fiddian (commercial litigation, Perth), Vincent Giang (commercial litigation, Sydney), Sean Kelly and Wendy Rees (major projects and construction, Melbourne), Gareth Oxley (major projects and construction, Brisbane), and Sian Ooi (competition, Sydney).
The promotions will be effective on 1 January 2025.
The news follows the firm’s pick-up of a restructuring and insolvency partner from global rival Jones Day in late October, its taking of four Canberra-based partners from national rival MinterEllison in August, its hiring of a commercial dispute resolution partner from Holding Redlich in the same month, its appointment of a senior duo from global rival Baker McKenzie in early July, and its promotion of 76 lawyers in the same month.
Speaking about the promotions, Clayton Utz chief executive partner Emma Covacevich said: “It’s a pleasure to announce our newly promoted partners: William, Yvette, Sam, Vincent, Wendy, Sean, Gareth and Sian.
“Each promotion reflects the new partners’ commitment to legal excellence, client outcomes and leadership of our next generation of lawyers.
“We’re proud to have them choose to build their careers with our firm.”
