Sparke Helmore adds new partner from Clyde & Co
Sparke Helmore has added a new partner to its specialty lines team, who brings with him a decade of legal experience to the firm.
David Kerwin has joined Sparke Helmore as the newest partner in its specialty lines team based in Brisbane.
Most recently a partner at Clyde & Co and formerly a principal lawyer at Barry Nilsson, Kerwin has experience across policy coverage and defence of claims across all major insurance lines, particularly financial lines and life insurance.
“When thinking about my next career move, this firm stood out to me as being culturally aligned to how I like to work with others and lead my team. Synergies also existed around our client base, and I saw a great opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of the practice,” Kerwin said.
“I am excited to deepen the firm’s offering in the financial lines space in Brisbane and nationally.”
Kerwin’s clients include major Australian and London market insurers, brokers and underwriters, as well as multinational and national policyholders/insureds, including SMEs. He also acts for businesses and high-net-worth individuals in commercial disputes, something national practice group leader for specialty lines Malcolm Cameron said was particularly valuable to the firm.
“David is a high-calibre partner with a strong market reputation who will bring a great deal of expertise and leading thinking to the firm,” he said.
“His clients appreciate his technical aptitude and commercial approach, and we are extremely pleased that he has decided to join us.”
