Minters’ Gold Coast arm returns to independent roots
After 26 years of partnership, MinterEllison Gold Coast has decided to separate from the national MinterEllison practice and rebrand as RedeMont.
MinterEllison Gold Coast, a law firm with four decades of experience, has rebranded and is now operating under the name RedeMont, transitioning away from the national MinterEllison brand.
Established initially as Witheriff Nyst, the Gold Coast-based law firm partnered with MinterEllison – one of the most esteemed law firms in the Asia-Pacific region – in the 1990s to enhance its market presence and extend its reach in the legal landscape.
However, after 26 years of collaboration, MinterEllison Gold Coast has decided to re-establish its independence and is prepared to embark on its “own unique chapter in the modern legal landscape”.
Ken Petty, the managing partner of the rebranded law firm, explained that transitioning to RedeMont was a “natural choice for both parties”.
“We have built an incredible legacy in the last 40 years and were founded as an independent firm, so it feels right to return to those independent roots all these years later,” Petty said.
He elaborated on how MinterEllison Gold Coast’s rebranding enables the firm to evolve and better meet the demands of a new era in legal services.
“We live in a vastly different world now where you no longer need to be in the same room as a client to service them, so these changes allow us to better align with this new era while reaffirming our commitment to excellence and innovation,” Petty said.
As the Gold Coast undergoes a significant transformation into a “global city”, Petty provided insight into how this rebranding initiative will create a plethora of “new opportunities” for the firm’s team of 80 staff members.
The newly established brand name, RedeMont, was thoughtfully selected to embody the firm’s “experience, insights, and expertise”.
The term “Rede” draws inspiration from a legal concept frequently used by lawyers, meaning “what’s the read on an issue or subject”. In contrast, “Mont” signifies the summit of a mountain, symbolising the firm’s dedication to reaching the pinnacle of legal “excellence”.
He further said: “We want to spotlight our incredible team of experts, and under RedeMont, we can not only profile them but also share their insights with the Gold Coast community, clients and the wider legal community.”
