Partner Philip Jones-Hope (pictured) has joined Holding Redlich, having come across from KPMG Law, where he served for nearly six years, including as the head of the big four firm’s government and defence practice.

He brings, the BigLaw firm said in a statement, over 25 years of experience in legal, business, and commercial roles, including serving as a senior solicitor and adviser within a Commonwealth agency.

His arrival, which also includes at least six professionals, will see Holding Redlich expand its government advisory capabilities.

Jones-Hope joined the firm earlier this month, and his team – not yet named – will arrive at the firm in due course.

The news follows the firm’s addition of a corporate and commercial partner from HWL Ebsworth in August, its naming of two state managing partners for NSW and the ACT, as well as for Victoria, in the same month, the promotion of two female lawyers to the partnership, alongside 27 others to more senior positions across the country, in early July, and the addition of a new WHS partner in April this year.

Speaking about the addition of the team and the firm’s expansion in Canberra, Holding Redlich national managing partner Troy Lewis said: “This is part of our deliberate focus on government law, which is a core practice area for Holding Redlich.

“By bringing in partners like Philip with unparalleled experience in serving the public sector, we’re able to deepen our support for Commonwealth clients in a rapidly evolving landscape.”

The firm’s Canberra office head, partner Elizabeth Carroll, added: “The growth of our Canberra team reflects our commitment to supporting Commonwealth clients with deep sector knowledge and practical legal solutions.

“Philip and his team bring invaluable expertise that directly aligns with our strategic focus. We are excited about the future and are well positioned to continue delivering the highest level of service to our Australian government clients, backed by a team that genuinely understands their unique requirements.”

Jones-Hope said: “Joining Holding Redlich is an opportunity to work with a firm that stands out for its tailored and client-centric approach to government law.

“The firm’s collaborative culture and reputation for innovative problem solving make it a great place to work on the complex challenges faced by Australian government clients.”
