Partner Patrick Boardman, special counsel Susanna Khouri and Antonia Rose, solicitor Ashlee Blannin, and legal assistant Victoria Tripi (all pictured) have joined Colin Biggers & Paisley.

The team, the firm detailed in a statement, added further depth to Colin Biggers & Paisley’s financial lines offering and its reputation “as an insurance practice that leads the market”.

Boardman has, the firm went on, worked in insurance litigation in the UK and Australia for almost 30 years, and he brings extensive experience guiding insurers through high-profile class action and shareholder disputes, including Iluka Resources, Crown Resorts, RCR Tomlinson, Star Entertainment, AMP, and Westpac.

He and his team commenced at Colin Biggers & Paisley last week, on 8 October.

The news follows the firm’s naming of a new deputy managing partner in August, as well as its promotion of 11 professionals, including three to partner, back in mid-June.

The appointments also continue the swelling of the firm’s insurance ranks over the last 18 months, which was covered extensively last year by Lawyers Weekly.

Speaking about the appointment, Colin Biggers & Paisley insurance practice co-lead Gavin Creighton said: “The appointment of Patrick and his team demonstrates our commitment to the strategic enhancement of our offering with practitioners who reinforce our pedigree of excellence in the insurance legal market.

“The alignment of culture and clients and breadth and depth of specialist expertise has made this an opportunity we jumped at, diverging from our usual strategy of organic growth.

“Patrick’s expertise will complement our market leading financial lines D&O and class actions offering, working alongside leading insurance lawyers Keith Bethlehem and Michael Russell and others.”

Boardman said: “My team and I are thrilled to join Colin Biggers & Paisley and build upon its already exceptional reputation in the insurance market.

“This opportunity enables us to leverage our collective expertise to deliver top-tier support and strategic advice to our clients.

“This move not only enhances directors’ and officers’ capabilities within a leading insurance team, it also reflects a strong alignment with the practice’s culture and their focus on growth and development of talent.”
