JWS has added a new partner to its Melbourne office. Most recently a partner at Baker McKenzie, Charlie Detmold brings more than 20 years of domestic and international experience to the firm, having worked across Australia and Europe.

Detmold has particular expertise in project finance, acquisition finance, and corporate finance, particularly in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors and has advised on project, acquisition and corporate financing across a range of asset classes, including renewables – solar, wind (onshore and offshore) – gas, resources, transport, social infrastructure and digital infrastructure.

“I was drawn to JWS’ exceptional reputation and market position with top-tier clients, which offer a great opportunity to grow the finance practice in energy, infrastructure and other sectors,” he said.

“I am looking forward to working with the JWS team to deliver the outstanding level of client service the firm is known for.”

Commenting on the new appointment, JWS managing partner Jeremy Davis said Detmold is “a highly regarded finance lawyer and a welcome addition to our team”.

“His expertise, particularly in project finance, will broaden out our projects capability, including in the renewables space,” he said.
