Thomson Geer takes team from KPMG Law
National law firm Thomson Geer has swelled the ranks of its workplace practice with the addition of a team from KPMG Law, including a partner, senior associate, associate, and graduate in Melbourne.
Adrian Wong (pictured) and his team – senior associate Katherine Southwell, associate Tara Malishev, and graduate Hailey Summers – have left KPMG Law for BigLaw firm Thomson Geer, bolstering the latter’s capability and depth in employment law.
Wong specialises, Thomson Geer said in a statement, in workforce strategy (including enterprise bargaining), employment compliance, transfer of business, misconduct matters and litigation.
The team will be based in Thomson Geer’s Melbourne office.
Wong, Southwell, and Summers all started with the firm earlier this week (Tuesday, 1 October), and Malishev will commence in due course.
The news follows the promotion of 50 professionals in early July and its merger with Tottle Partners in Perth in May.
Thomson Geer chief executive partner Adrian Tembel said: “We are pleased to welcome Adrian and his team to the firm. They are a high-performing group of lawyers doing quality work and who will complement our existing employment practice.
“With Australia’s industrial and workplace relations landscape going through significant changes, clients need advisers who have the skills and experience to successfully navigate them.”
Wong said: “We are excited to join Thomson Geer and become part of its plan for growth.
“We see many opportunities to collaborate across the firm on some of the most pressing and complex workplace issues clients face today.”
