Joining Rest in December this year, Duncan Whiteside will provide guidance and lead the fund’s team of legal advisers in the newly created role of general counsel.

Whiteside joins Rest from MetLife Australia, where he has worked since 2017, most recently as the insurer’s GC and head of legal. He will depart MetLife in November 2024.

He has also worked for law firms Blake Dawson (now Ashurst Australia) in Australia and Norton Rose Fulbright in the UK.

Whiteside will report to chief strategy and corporate affairs officer Tyrone O’Neill.

“I’m pleased to welcome Duncan to Rest in the newly created position of general counsel, where he will play a key advisory role to the board and senior management while leading Rest’s team of legal experts as we continue our mission to make super simple for our two million members,” O’Neill said.

“Duncan has deep expertise in financial services and corporate law, particularly through his experience of the legal and regulatory environment for the life insurance sector.”
