Individual categories include Barrister of the Year, Dealmaker of the Year, General Counsel of the Year, and Senior Associate of the Year across both BigLaw and SME Law.
Several rising stars have been singled out for their outstanding performance early in their careers across BigLaw firms, SME law firms, as well as those practising law in the government sector or in-house.
Alongside this, thought leaders and wellness advocates have been applauded for championing growth and development in their profession and advocating for the health and wellbeing of professionals in the legal industry.
The highest-scoring individual category winner will become the recipient of this year’s Excellence Award at the black-tie gala ceremony later this year.
The awards program has also shone a spotlight on diverse boutique and large law firms, as well as innovative businesses that have evolved and capitalised on growth opportunities to secure their long-term success.
For over a decade, the Women in Law Awards has provided national recognition to exceptional women in the legal profession who have worked hard and dedicated themselves to working in their clients’ best interests, cementing their role in their organisations, and propelling the legal sector to new heights.
The awards program celebrates the best and brightest women who have achieved excellence in the business of law, including executives, barristers, academics, pro bono lawyers, students, general and special counsel, and partners, along with law firms that have fostered a diverse culture and proactively endeavour to increase female representation.
Finalists for the Women in Law Awards were chosen using a robust methodology developed by Lawyers Weekly, its parent company, Momentum Media, and a panel of leading legal professionals to form the backbone for assessing, analysing, and benchmarking Australia’s leading female legal professionals.
The judging criteria for award categories are both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s legal sector.
All submissions underwent a thorough audit process, checking demographic and other information against category eligibility criteria based on the information provided in the submission.
Those submissions deemed eligible against submission criteria were reviewed and assessed by a panel of Momentum Media events and editorial team members and executives (alongside industry stakeholders where required) to determine the finalists for each category.
The winners will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremony dinner on Thursday, 14 November 2024, at Crown, Melbourne. Click here to buy tickets.
The awards ceremony presents an opportunity for members of the legal profession to celebrate the achievements of women in the business of law while networking with industry leaders and their peers.
As the legal industry continues to prosper and serve clients, organisations have capitalised on the Women in Law Awards to drive business growth, distinguish themselves in the marketplace when attracting and retaining top talent, and strengthen their position to win and retain business.
For legal professionals, recognition has underpinned career advancement while reaffirming their role in their organisation and the wider industry.
