Piper Alderman has appointed Megan Bishop (pictured) as a taxation partner and Christian Febbraro as an associate to strengthen its corporate team in Melbourne.

Both Bishop and Febbraro have moved over from BigLaw firm Holding Redlich, where Bishop was a partner, and Febbraro was an associate in its tax disputes team.

Bishop and Febbraro’s areas of specialisation include, the firm detailed, “research and development taxes, employment taxes, trust tax issues, corporate and individual mobility-related tax issues [and], tax debt management”.

Bishop boasts over 14 years of experience in resolving state and federal tax disputes, during which she helped clients “navigate and manage state, federal and inter-jurisdictional tax issues”.

She works across the “full spectrum”, with the firm noting that she has provided support “with transactional phase risk mitigation strategy through to acting in the High Court”.

Bishop graduated from the University of Melbourne with a bachelor of law. Prior to that, she completed a degree in chemical engineering at the same university.

Speaking about her new role, Bishop expressed her enthusiasm: “I am delighted to bring our taxation team to complement Piper Alderman’s existing dispute resolution and litigation practice and to have the opportunity to continue to provide our taxation services to our clients.

“Tax should never be considered in isolation of broader commercial and regulatory objectives. I am excited to be able to leverage the wider capabilities of Piper Alderman and to work alongside colleagues to bring clients the best possible outcomes.”

Piper Alderman noted that Febbraro “holds a double qualification as an admitted lawyer and as a chartered accountant (CA)” and has “completed a master of laws at the University of Melbourne specialising in taxation”.

Tony Britten-Jones, the managing partner of Piper Alderman, eagerly welcomes Bishop and Febbraro, expressing his confidence that their exceptional skills and expertise in taxation will enhance the firm’s ability to provide outstanding client service.

“We are excited to welcome Megan and Christian to the firm. The team’s exceptional skills, experience, and expertise in taxation will undoubtedly enhance our national tax offering and strengthen our ability to provide outstanding service to our clients,” Britten-Jones said.
