The newest principal lawyer at Macpherson Kelley, Kim O’Reilly, brings with her more than two decades of legal experience spanning corporate and commercial law, including business structuring, mergers and acquisitions (both in listed environments and privately), joint ventures, and IPOs.

O’Reilly has worked within BigLaw firms, including as an equity partner at DWF Australia, as well as in-house and has experience across various sectors, including financial services, biotech, energy and resources, and transport technology.

“I’m passionate about helping businesses navigate corporate and commercial law, whether it’s structuring a start-up, managing M&A transactions through a business’s growth or divestment phases or aiding with a capital raising or public offering,” she said.

“My aim is set on achieving the best outcomes for my clients.”

The news follows the addition of a special counsel in April and the firm’s promotion of six lawyers, including one to principal, in January. It also follows its addition of a special counsel from Maddocks as a new principal in September, its naming of a new chief people officer in mid-August, its promotion of 13 lawyers to more senior roles and hiring of a special counsel in early July, and its addition of a principal and special counsel in mid-April last year.

Managing principal Grant Guenther welcomed O’Reilly to the firm.

“Welcoming Kim to our firm is an exciting development for our Sydney office and beyond,” he said.

“Her genuine skills in M&A and the ECM space, combined with her strong client relationships, will be invaluable as we continue to bolster our capabilities in assisting corporates through their growth phases and expanding capital requirements.”
