K&L Gates adds partner and team from HWL Ebsworth
Global law firm K&L Gates continues to grow its Australian partnership, this time appointing a real estate partner and his team from a BigLaw rival.
Paul Lalich (pictured) has joined K&L Gates from national law firm HWL Ebsworth and brings with him special counsel Andrew Scully and lawyer Madeleine Ryan.
Lalich commenced with the firm on 12 August, and his team started a week later, on the 19th.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of three lateral partners last month, its taking of a corporate partner from JWS in April, its nabbing of a team of four, including two partners, from Holding Redlich in the same month, and its addition of a partner from NRF in January and a partner from McInnes Wilson in the same month.
Lalich is the third real estate partner hire for the global firm this year.
Speaking about the hire, K&L Gates Australian managing partner Jason Opperman said: “We are delighted that Paul and his team have joined the firm, continuing our growth in Australia with the addition of high-calibre legal talent, and further demonstrating our steadfast commitment to servicing our clients’ evolving needs.
“Paul’s extensive background and experience will provide tremendous business and practical insights that will benefit our clients across multiple industries.”
Real estate practice leader Sandra Steele said: “Paul is a highly respected planning and environment lawyer who has worked on complex and high-profile transport, infrastructure and urban release projects for large national, multinational clients.”
“We are excited to welcome Paul and his team to the firm. Their arrival will significantly enhance our comprehensive planning and environmental service offering to clients.”
