Within its renewable energy practice, DLA Piper has appointed Maddison Hardiman as a senior associate based in Melbourne.

Hardiman was previously a senior associate within the projects, energy and infrastructure practice at Herbert Smith Freehills and brings more than a decade of legal experience to the firm. He has acted for both buyers and sellers on major renewable platforms, single asset divestments and acquisitions and energy transitions business.

This comes after a recent round of promotions within the DLA Piper renewable energy team, including the elevation of special counsel Simone Bajraszewski and senior associate Lisa Huynh, which corporate energy partner Chris Mitchell said would help the firm reach its strategic goals in this area.

“We’re currently advising on more renewable energy deals than any other law firm globally and continue to play a leading role assisting our clients to execute on their energy transition objectives across Australia and the broader APAC region,” he said.

“The addition of a senior lawyer of Maddison’s experience and capability, together with the promotions of Simone and Lisa, adds further depth and strength to our leading renewable energy team and ensures we continue to provide our clients with the expertise and experience to assist them delivering on their commercial objectives in a continuously evolving and dynamic sector.”

DLA Piper chair of energy and resources Alex Jones welcomed Hardiman to the role.

“We’re delighted to welcome Maddison, who brings significant expertise and will bolster the firm’s well-established capabilities in renewable energy and energy transition,” he said.
