Alex Hartmann (pictured) has joined Hall & Wilcox, following more than 15 years as a partner at Baker McKenzie.

Hartmann brings, Hall & Wilcox said in a statement, over three decades of experience in construction law, with expertise in all aspects of large construction and engineering project delivery, and he advises clients across diverse industry sectors, including universities, state-owned corporations, institutional property, utilities, hospitality, and healthcare.

Hartmann will be joined by associate Anh-tuan Nguyen, and the pair will be based in Sydney.

The news follows the firm’s promotion of 60 lawyers, including seven women to the partnership, in mid-June.

Speaking about the hire, Hall & Wilcox chief executive partner Graydon Dowd said: “Alex is internationally recognised as a leading construction lawyer. He brings a wealth of experience to our team, adding depth to our front-end construction capability, as well as further strengthening our back-end construction offering.”

“We have been strategically focused on growing our broader property, planning and construction capabilities nationally, and Alex’s appointment complements our existing team. Alex joining us will greatly assist Hall & Wilcox clients.”

Hartmann said: “I’m excited to join a dynamic and growing firm like Hall & Wilcox, with a strong commitment to delivering great client experience.”

“The firm’s priorities are aligned with my own practice, and our combined expertise and knowledge of the Australian construction sector allows us to help our clients navigate the complexities of construction law.”
