Alex Tighe (pictured) has joined Clayton Utz from Holding Redlich, where she spent almost two decades, including over seven years as a partner.

She won the Partner of the Year category at the 2020 Women in Law Awards and has “particular expertise” in royal commissions and public inquiries, as well as over 20 years of experience acting in commercial disputes and regulatory investigations.

She is also an executive director of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a non-executive director of the Mercy Health Foundation.

Tighe started in her new role yesterday (Thursday, 1 August).

The news follows the firm’s hiring of a senior duo from global rival Baker McKenzie in early July and its promotion of 76 lawyers in the same month.

Speaking about the hire, Clayton Utz deputy chief executive partner Nick Cooper said that Tighe’s experience would further bolster the firm’s commercial litigation capabilities.

“With over two decades of experience, Alex joins the firm at a time when Australian businesses are faced with heightened regulatory pressures and public scrutiny,” he said.

“Alex brings exceptional knowledge in navigating complex legal issues for clients. Her proven leadership in high-profile inquiries, such as the ‘lawyer X’ royal commission and the Crown Casino royal commission, enhances and strengthens our already robust capability in this area.”

“We are excited to welcome Alex. With her expertise, we are well-positioned to enhance the strategic guidance, value, and insight we deliver to our clients.”
