Effective 19 August, May Lin Chew has been appointed as chief legal officer at GHD, joining the company’s enterprise leadership team.

Chew has extensive expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement and more than 25 years of global corporate experience.

She was most recently the general counsel and executive manager at Western Power, a government-owned corporation that operates the electricity network in Western Australia. Prior to that, Chew was an international corporate lawyer with Shell for 17 years in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. She has also worked in Malaysia and Japan.

“I am delighted to join GHD as the chief legal officer and work with the talented team of lawyers across the globe. I am equally excited to bring a strategic legal voice to the enterprise leadership team and have the opportunity to shape discussions there,” Chew said.

“GHD has a strong reputation for excellence and innovation in the engineering, sciences and consulting industry, and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth and success.”

GHD CEO Jim Giannopoulos said that Chew’s global experience would be a valuable addition to the team.

“May Lin strongly believes that shaping the discussion and influencing the debate around corporate culture and strategic issues are the keys to a successful business,” he said.

“As we look to the future, we are excited to have her global experience, voice and perspective on the enterprise leadership team.”
