The program will conclude with a black-tie gala awards ceremony on Friday, 30 August 2024, at The Star, Sydney. Click here to buy your tickets.

Individual finalists range from barristers, in-house lawyers, general and special counsel, dealmakers, partners, regional/suburban lawyers, senior associates, and sole practitioners.

At the end of the evening, the highest-scoring individual winner will become the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award.

Several firms and teams have also been nominated for the awards, including banking and finance teams, dispute resolution and/or litigation teams, government teams, boutique law firms, and NewLaw firms.

Alongside this, mentors have been shortlisted for their service to the profession, while some firms have received the nod for their wellness initiatives.

For almost a quarter of a century, the Australian Law Awards program has shone the spotlight on legal professionals and firms that work tirelessly to ensure the legal industry thrives.

The pinnacle awards event champions the leading players in the profession for their hard work, dedication, and innovations, including managing partners, general counsel, barristers, legal scholars, and the rising stars of tomorrow.

The awards were open to all individuals and firms operating in Australia and supporting the business of law.

Many of the most accomplished and established professionals and organisations have capitalised on the awards program to strengthen their position, stand out in a competitive marketplace when attracting and retaining top talent, and win and retain business.

For individuals, recognition underpins career advancement and reaffirms their role in advancing their organisation and the broader legal industry.

Finalists’ submissions will be delivered to a panel of judges that encompass respected professionals and business leaders, who will assess each submission against the criteria of each award category.

The judges will score each part of the submission across the category’s criteria and provide an aggregated score. A number of judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.

The combined judging scores for each submission for each category are tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.

The winners will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremony on Friday, 30 August 2024, at The Star, Sydney. Click here to buy your tickets.

The awards ceremony presents an opportunity for legal professionals to network with industry leaders and their peers while celebrating the achievements of their colleagues.

Lawyers Weekly editor Jerome Doraisamy said: “It is our great honour to host the annual Australian Law Awards – undoubtedly the biggest and best awards program for legal professionals nationwide.

“What makes the ALAs so special is that it is a celebration of legal professionals from across the spectrum, from managing partners to law students, from mentors to rising stars.

“All finalists and eventual winners have achieved incredible things in the past year, and we are delighted to raise a glass to recognise those achievements.”
