K&L Gates adds 3 lateral partners
Global law firm K&L Gates has hired three partners from rival firms – two of whom have come across from Jackson McDonald in Perth and another who comes from Davies Collison Cave in Melbourne.
K&L Gates has brought on board two partners from Jackson McDonald in Perth, Simon Moen and Luke Paterson.
Speaking about the appointments, K&L Gates Australian regional managing partner Jason Opperman said: “The recruitment of Simon and Luke to the firm represents a significant and exciting development in the growth story of K&L Gates in the Australian market, particularly in Perth, which is at the epicentre of a very dynamic and resource-rich part of the economy.
“They both bring outstanding skill sets [that] are in high demand, and we see immense opportunity to combine our global platform with their strong local knowledge and capability to deliver exceptional outcomes for our local and international clients, many of whom are engaged in high-value inbound investments and complex cross-border deals.”
Elsewhere, the global firm has hired IP partner Sally Foreman – who won the IP category at the 2024 Partner of the Year Awards – for its Melbourne office.
Foreman joins from Davies Collison Cave, where she was a principal and trademark attorney.
Opperman said: “We are delighted to welcome Sally to the firm as we continue to pursue growth in areas where we see significant opportunity.
“Sally’s impressive credentials further bolster our highly successful global IP practice in response to increasing client demand.”
The firm’s IP practice group leader, Jonathan Feder, said: “We are really thrilled to have Sally join the team. She is well respected for being way ahead of the game with a sophisticated understanding of trademark law and a very thorough and practical approach in her advice.
“She will be a tremendous asset to the team and to our clients. Sally’s arrival continues our growth strategy in the global IP team, with recent additions in Germany and the US.”
