Of the two new partners at the firm, Bianca Williamson has been promoted to partner in the recovery and restructuring practice in Sydney.

The firm has also hired a construction partner in Melbourne, Nathan Abbott, who joins from Colin Biggers & Paisley.

Abbott has extensive experience in construction and engineering law, advising on major construction projects and acting in major construction disputes – and Dentons’ Australia chair and Australasia Region CEO, Doug Stipanicev, welcomed him to the partnership.

“Nathan’s appointment adds significant bench strength to our growing construction team, complementing our offering in Sydney and Brisbane,” he said.

“I’m delighted we are able to meet the growing needs of our clients both in Melbourne and nationally.”

This news comes after a number of new additions to the firm as it grows its presence in Australia, including the addition of a banking and finance partner from Baker McKenzie in April, the appointment of two employment and safety partners and a team of nine from Kennedys in March, the appointment of a special counsel from Corrs Chambers Westgarth as a new banking and finance partner in its Melbourne office in mid-February, its hiring of employment partner Edmund Burke from Holding Redlich in January, technology partner Michael Park from Allens in December 2023, and the hiring of planning and environment partner Mitchell Osborne from AJ & Co Lawyers in Brisbane in mid-October 2023.

In the firm’s latest promotions round, three have been elevated to managing associate, with two elevated to special counsel and 12 promoted to senior associates.

“I heartily congratulate all our talented lawyers on their achievement. I’m delighted we have been able to recognise so many of our people for not only their legal excellence, but for their leadership skills and commitment to client service,” Stipanicev said.

“Dentons is committed to being a law firm where talent can thrive. Our comprehensive learning and development program provides all levels of lawyer, from graduate to partner, with the support and opportunity to reach the next stage of their career.”

Tom Reid, Laura Johnson, and Sarah Newman have all been promoted to managing associate in Australia, with Deanna Jenkins and Emma Haylock both being promoted to special counsel.

The following have also been promoted to senior associate: Abbi Beckwith, Clare Park, Gavin Cheang, Danielle Gilby, Stefanie Michieli, Chanel Murray-Baptista, Brittany Graham, Julia Leeds, Jen Chen, Nik Sachdev, Robert Eugster in Australia, as well as Ethel Goina in Port Moresby.
