Hamilton Locke has promoted 18 lawyers: two to partner, six to special counsel, and 10 to senior associate.

The firm is one of Australia’s fastest-growing BigLaw practices, with 62 partners and 221 employees across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle, and Auckland.

The firm’s new partners are Melissa Doran and Timothy Zahara. Doran joined the firm as a special counsel from Clyde & Co in 2023, while Zahara joined in 2020 before having a stint at the Fair Work Ombudsman. He then returned to the firm in 2022 as a special counsel.

Both practice in the firm’s workplace and employment practice.

Elsewhere, the firm’s new special counsel are Kassandra Adams, Chafeka Foti, Clara Hagan, Katherine McMenamin, Penelope Nicholls, and Calyb Soekoe.

Its newest senior associates are Tariq Alardah, Miriam Asar, Simon Barcham, Georgina Buckley, Georgie Chard, Tayla Jasson, Bobby Nader, Adam Rose, William Ryan, and Samantha Ryu.

Speaking about the promotions, Hamilton Locke managing partner Nick Humphrey said: “Melissa and Timothy both represent the essence of our culture: smart, dedicated practitioners who care about their teams and are committed to providing our clients with an exceptional experience. We congratulate them on this career milestone.”

Doran said: “Being promoted to partner is an exciting new chapter. Hamilton Locke’s people-first culture and agile way of thinking are key values that align with my values as a practitioner, and it’s a firm of which I’m proud to be part.”

Zahara said: “It’s a privilege to be promoted to partner at a firm that genuinely walks the talk on law being practised in a way that is sustainable and humane, which creates an environment in which our people can truly excel. I wouldn’t want to be a partner at any other firm.”

Humphrey said: “We’re also very proud of our new special counsel and senior associates, whose promotions reflect their talent, commitment to our culture, and broader contributions to our firm.”
