Five partners and 15 senior associates have been elevated across Australia within Clyde & Co after additional promotions were revealed earlier this year.

All working within the firm’s insurance practice, Leah Hewish, Hannes Marais, Ross Donaldson, Anthony Cooke and Jennifer Robbins have been promoted to the Clyde & Co partnership.

Hewish has been promoted to partner in the firm’s first-party property and energy insurance practice and specialises in home owner, SME and industrial special risks, as well as fraud claims.

Marais and Robbins have both been promoted in the Brisbane office, with Donaldson promoted in the firm’s Melbourne office.

Promoted in the Sydney office, Cooke is admitted to practice in both Australia and New Zealand and advises clients on cyber security, data protection and privacy matters.

Chair of the Clyde & Co Australian insurance practice, Gareth Horne, said these promotions were “strategically important”.

“The most recent round of partner promotions is strategically important as it reflects the firm’s commitment to grow the mid-market and SME offering in Australia in addition to our market-leading major and complex loss practice,” he said.

“This reflects growing demand in this space as our clients adjust their own capacity in an increasingly complex and competitive insurance market.”

In addition, the following have been promoted to senior associate: Rebecca Badra, Samantha Beattie, Michael Docker, Isabella He, Pariya Hosseini, Violet Li, Julia Moroz, Daniel Oh, Shreeya Pandey, Nicholas Stasos, Kate Witt, Emily Wood, Darling Brophy, Leah Studholme, and Olivia Tate.

This news follows the promotion of three Australian partners and five special counsel in April, as well as the firm’s naming of a new Australian managing partner in November last year, as well as its appointment of 13 new senior associates in Australia in July and seven new special counsel in May last year.

The promotions reflect the ever-evolving needs of local and global clients in a number of core sectors, including insurance, projects and construction, aviation and energy, marine and natural resources, added Australia managing partner Rebecca Kelly.

“Our new partners, special counsel and senior associates reflect the amazing talent of our people, which is essential to provide clients with the high level of service and specialist expertise they expect. All those promoted provide exceptional support to our clients and help us perform at our best as a firm,” she said.

“They also represent the next generation of senior lawyers and are shining examples of Clyde & Co’s values in action with their focus on client excellence, working together as part of a global team, and celebrating and welcoming different perspectives and ideas from across the firm. Congratulations to all as they mark the next milestone in their careers.”
