Peter Mills (pictured) has joined Keypoint Law, bringing more than two decades of experience in corporate insolvency and creditor recoveries in Australia and overseas.

He is, the firm detailed in a statement, an expert in advising on the National Consumer Credit Protection Act and the Personal Property Securities Act and also advises small and large strata title community schemes as to disputes concerning caretaker and management disputes, by-law breaches, and unlawful acts, arrangements, appointments and conduct by owners and committees.

Mills, a former president of the Australian Institute of Credit Management in Queensland, will be based in Brisbane.

The news follows the firm’s expansion into Perth, as reported by Lawyers Weekly in early May.

It also follows its appointment of a former GC and firm director as a consulting principal in late May and its recent appointments of an IP consulting principal in Melbourne in mid-March, a corporate and M&A consulting principal in Sydney in late January, and a property law consulting principal in early January.

Speaking about the appointment, Keypoint chief executive Warren Kalinko said: “With over two decades in corporate insolvency and banking and finance, Peter is a welcome addition to Keypoint’s national litigation group.

“His offering extends to include a highly sophisticated expertise in personal property securities and broader finance law and commercial disputes.”

Mills said: “I have worked together with Keypoint team members on numerous client matters over many years, even whilst I have been a member of other law firms.

“My new role with Keypoint is simply the natural progression of our relationship.

“This next step, however, is really about all clients gaining the advantage of Keypoint’s multiple experts, including myself, and national resources, in a seamless, transparent and cost-efficient environment.”
