Gilchrist Connell names 2 new principals
National law firm Gilchrist Connell has elevated two of its special counsel to the partnership.
Lotta Noel and Jacob Redden (both pictured) are the newest principals at Gilchrist Connell, with their new roles taking effect on 1 July.
Redden – also a special counsel – has been with the firm for over 11 years and initially worked in its Adelaide office before relocating to Brisbane. He has, the firm said, a “significant” professional indemnity claims and injury liability for engineers and builders and brings “considerable” experience in workplace relations, work health and safety obligations, litigated employment disputes, management and governance liability, and sports law.
The news follows the firm’s addition of three senior lawyers from BigLaw rival Colin Biggers & Paisley in mid-June, its hiring of four new special counsel earlier in the month, its appointment of a senior associate from national practice Moray & Agnew in February, and its promotion of 11 lawyers in January.
Speaking about the promotions, Gilchrist Connell managing principal Richard Wood said: “It is genuinely one of the best parts of the job to watch good people fulfil their potential within GC. Lotta and Jacob are highly respected by their clients and their colleagues, and we are thrilled to welcome them to our partnership.”
“Lotta and Jacob’s promotion is the latest in a series of announcements which demonstrate the growth of our firm and our commitment to strengthen our offering to meet client needs.”
Wood – who last week spoke at Lawyers Weekly’s inaugural Partner Summit about partners’ exhaustion and navigating generational differences in attitude, recently told this brand that if a law firm needs to rely on legislation to combat burnout, then “you’ve already lost the battle”.
