Catherine Wheeler (pictured) is set to join Piper Alderman as a commercial property partner, bringing more than 28 years of experience in the Perth market and with a focus on real estate, development, projects, and finance.

Wheeler comes across from HopgoodGanim Lawyers, where she spent almost a decade as a partner, including as the leader of that firm’s commercial property practice in Perth. Prior to this, she was a special counsel at Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

She specialises, the firm said in a statement, in acquisitions, disposals and leasing across a broad range of sectors, including industrial, commercial, agricultural, renewable energy, residential, aged care and retail, and provides legal, strategic and compliance advice to major corporate, government and private clients.

Wheeler will commence at the firm next Monday (17 June).

The news follows the appointment of a new partner for the firm’s projects, infrastructure, and construction team back in early April, its promotion of 16 professionals to more senior positions at Piper Alderman at the end of December, and the addition of a Perth-based partner at the end of November.

Speaking about her new role, Wheeler said: “I am excited to join Piper Alderman, a highly respected national law firm that offers excellent opportunities for growth in the Perth market.

“I look forward to providing clients with a comprehensive range of services from the Perth office, enriched by the opportunity to collaborate with and draw from Piper Alderman’s national offering.”

Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones added: “We are very excited to be welcoming Catherine to our team.

“Catherine’s reputation as a distinguished lawyer in the property, banking, local government and finance fields, coupled with her commitment to renewable energy matters, aligns perfectly with our values and goals.

“We look forward to her contribution and continued success at Piper Alderman.”

The firm’s Perth head, Shane Entriken, noted: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine to our now much expanded Perth office.

“Catherine’s addition underscores our commitment to growth and excellence in the region.

“Her extensive expertise in the commercial property sector will significantly bolster our local capabilities and drive continued success for our clients and our firm in Western Australia.”
