Jinny Chaimungkalanont (pictured) is the new managing partner of finance in Australia and Asia for HSF, succeeding Andrew Booth, who had headed up the team since 2017.

Chaimungkalanont has been a partner at HSF since 2012 and has more than two decades of experience, the firm said, in advising on stamp duty and other state taxes Australia-wide.

The appointment was effective as of 1 May.

The news follows the firm’s unveiling of a new global ALT practice, as reported last week.

It also follows HSF’s naming of 10 new executive counsel in April, nine new partners in Australia in the same month, its appointment of an Australian as joint managing partner of its global corporate practice in February, and its promotion of four within its alternative legal services practice in January.

Speaking about her appointment, Chaimungkalanont said: “I am thrilled to be leading our outstanding finance team across Asia and Australia and to build on the success of Andrew’s legacy.

“It is an exciting time for the team as we continue to implement our strategic plan, with our clients at the forefront as we strive to deliver exceptional results in all areas of our finance offering.

“I will focus on fostering a connected regional team, as well as growing our practice in line with the firm’s strategic direction, including in the areas of private capital and energy transition.”

Booth added: “It’s been a pleasure to lead the finance team for the best part of seven years. Our team is truly outstanding, totally committed to achieving great, world-class outcomes for our clients. I have no doubt that the team will continue to go from strength to strength under Jinny’s leadership.

“I look forward to supporting Jinny in her role and continuing to work alongside my clients in international and domestic debt capital markets and corporate finance transactions.”
