Now in its ninth year, the Partner of the Year Awards recognises the achievements of Australia’s top-performing law partners.

The awards program will culminate in a black-tie gala ceremony on Thursday, 20 June 2024, at The Star in Sydney. Click here to buy your tickets.

A total of 278 finalists have been chosen out of 412 submissions, and they will compete across 37 individual categories at this year’s awards (including the new Senior Partner of the Year – 15 years or more category).

The partners span across individual practice areas, including banking and finance, capital markets, dispute resolution, employment, financial services, mergers and acquisitions, pro bono, and wills and estates. Innovators, mentors, and wellness advocates are also in the running to have their achievements recognised.

The highest-scoring individual winner will receive the prestigious Partner of the Year Excellence Award before the awards ceremony concludes.

The Partner of the Year Awards program showcases the depth of talent of partner and partner equivalents across individual practice areas in the nation’s legal industry while affirming the sector’s essential role in supporting the expansion of Australia.

The awards also pinpoint professional development and innovation and champion partners who are leading the industry and their teams while mentoring the rising stars of tomorrow, and recognise specialists in corporate and criminal law, and family law, among other practice areas.

The finalists’ submissions will be delivered to a panel of respected professionals and business leaders, who assess each submission against the criteria of each award category.

The judges will score each part of the submission across the category’s criteria, giving an aggregated score. A number of judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.

The combined judging scores for each submission in each category will be tabulated, with the highest-scoring submission deemed the winner.

Lawyers Weekly editor Jerome Doraisamy said: “We congratulate all of tonight’s finalists and eventual winners. Being recognised at this annual event is a true feather in the cap for partners of all stripes, and we couldn’t be more pleased to celebrate their successes.

“It’s been another stellar year of accomplishments, across the marketplace, from partners and partners-equivalent, and based on the strength of applications received for this event, it is clear that clients everywhere are being very well served by their legal services panels.

“We are especially excited to see the excellent work being undertaken by both new partners and senior partners – the emerging generation is being well served by those in the upper echelons of legal practice.”

The winners will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremony on Thursday, 20 June 2024, at The Star in Sydney. Click here to buy your tickets.
