WALTA launches new directory for women in legal tech
In a move to promote gender equality within the legal tech industry, WALTA has unveiled a new directory to improve the visibility and accessibility of women professionals and entrepreneurs in the sector.
The Women of ALTA – the Australian Legal Technology Association (WALTA) has just launched theWiLD – the Women in Legaltech Directory, a central, searchable platform. It features a comprehensive listing of women experts in legal technology, as well as women-founded legal tech companies.
“Our mission is to raise the visibility and profile of female legal tech professionals and provide a means for the legal industry to consciously include diversity as part of the procurement process,” she said.
“We believe that highlighting the expertise of women in our field will, in turn, make it easier for them to be engaged and their products to be purchased. In doing so, theWiLD will act as the initiator of change across the broader legal industry.”
In a move to further support gender parity in legal tech through procurement and equal engagement, theWiLD can provide a quick, clear understanding of women who can be a consultant on a project or a speaker on a panel and help with the procurement of software or employment opportunities for innovation roles.
TheWiLD also aims to facilitate more inclusive and diverse engagements of women-founded businesses and professionals across the legal tech ecosystem, added founder of Xakia, co-founder of ALTA and subcommittee member of WALTA Jodie Baker.
“When I started my legal tech company, Xakia, it felt like I was navigating uncharted waters alone. But WALTA created a vibrant community that champions the advancement of women in legal tech,” she said.
“TheWiLD expands that further to ensure the contributions of women are recognised and that they have equal opportunities to excel in this dynamic field.”
