HWL Ebsworth partner joins Sparke Helmore in projects and government commercial team
BigLaw firm Sparke Helmore has appointed a partner from national rival HWL Ebsworth, who will work in the firm’s projects and government commercial practice group.
Sheldon Garcia (pictured) has joined Sparke Helmore from HWL Ebsworth, where he served for over 11 years, including more than five years as a partner.
He is joining Sparke Helmore’s projects and government commercial practice group and will be based in its Sydney office.
The news follows the firm’s addition of a partner from Holding Redlich for its Brisbane office back in July, its promotion of 28 lawyers to more senior roles in the same month, its addition of a partner from a Newcastle-based boutique in November, its promotion of four lawyers to more senior roles in late January, and the appointment of a partner and two special counsel for its health practice in February.
Speaking about the hire, Sparke Helmore projects and government commercial national practice group leader Paul Tobin said: “We are excited to welcome Sheldon onboard.
“Sheldon’s expertise and know-how will allow us to expand the services we provide to our clients and support the continued growth of our national practice.”
Garcia noted: “I am pleased to enter the next phase of my career with Sparke Helmore.
“This opportunity allows me to build on my strong relationships in the industry, adding greater depth to the firm’s highly regarded projects and government commercial team.”
