JWS adds special counsel from Corrs
Independent law firm Johnson Winter Slattery has appointed a new special counsel to its environment and planning team.
JWS has appointed Julia Green (pictured) as special counsel for the firm’s environment and planning team based in Sydney.
During her time working within the environment and planning sector, she has worked on “some of the largest and most complex developments in NSW for high-calibre clients and regularly acts on a broad range of major projects in a litigious, advisory and transactional capacity.”
With over 18 years of experience as an environment and planning lawyer, Green has held roles at Hunt & Hunt Lawyers and Gilbert + Tobin and was most recently a special counsel at Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of a new special counsel for their energy and resources team in mid-March, the hiring of an intellectual property special counsel from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in October, the appointment of a construction partner from Baker McKenzie in early August, and the addition of a partner from Jones Day in July.
JWS partner and head of the environment and planning team Samantha Daly emphasised her excitement towards Green’s appointment.
“I am thrilled to welcome Julia to our team at JWS. Julia has an excellent reputation in the market and has broad experience across a range of industries and clients,” she said.
“With ESG being a key focus area for companies across Australia, we are excited to be able to further enhance our offering to clients in this area.”
Green expressed her eagerness to join the national firm and her ability to work with the “talented lawyers” that make up JWS.
“I am looking forward to working with the exceptionally talented lawyers at JWS and the highly regarded environment and planning team led by Samantha Daly. JWS is a standout market leader, and I am delighted to join the firm,” she stated.
