Angela Pearsall has returned to Ashurst from Clifford Chance as a partner in the firm’s dispute and investigations offering. According to Ashurst, this appointment is part of its ongoing efforts to grow this global practice area.

Ashurst emphasised that Pearsall is “an expert in large-scale commercial litigation and class actions as well as contentious regulatory investigations”.

With over 25 years of experience in managing complex litigation cases, Pearsall has demonstrated her ability to lead and oversee significant cases involving corporate collapses, capital raisings, IPOs, and complex financial instruments.

The global law firm stated that Pearsall specialises in “handling complex financial reporting litigation, having acted for global accounting and auditing forms for more than a decade.”

Pearsall spent 12 years with Ashurst until 2016. She then joined rival international law firm Clifford Chance, where she spent over seven years. Within this time she assumed several leadership roles that included co-chair of their international commercial litigation group.

“I am excited by the opportunity to return to Ashurst at a time of significant growth for the firm. Ashurst has always had strong credentials in commercial dispute resolution,” she said.

“The firm’s deep, full-service offering will become even more attractive to clients as litigation and regulatory landscapes evolve in line with emerging global risks such as ESG and technology. I look forward to working with Ashurst’s disputes and investigations team to further expand the practice.”

This appointment followed the addition of London-based partner Judith Seddon to Ashurst’s global disputes and investigations practice.

Lea Constantine, the firm’s head of region for Australia and global co-head of the disputes, investigations, and advisory practice, expressed her enthusiasm for Pearsall’s return to the firm.

“We are delighted to welcome Angela back to Ashurst. Angela is a leading litigator in Australia with an excellent market reputation, developed through her involvement in a number of significant and large-scale commercial disputes,” she said.

“Her experience on complex commercial matters and class actions will add bench strength to our existing practice while her global outlook aligns with our ambitions to expand the practice across multiple jurisdictions. Angela will play an important role in our plans to expand disputes and investigations offering globally.”

Paul Jenkins, Ashurst’s global chief executive, also commented:Disputes and investigations is a strategic focus for Ashurst globally and also an important part of our ambition to be the leading law firm in Australia by 2027. Angela’s calibre as a commercial litigator and her breadth of experience make her a valuable addition to our disputes and investigations team.

“She will support both our global and local plans for growth in the practice. Angela is the 16th new partner we have appointed to this team globally in the past two years.”
