Global law firm Dentons has welcomed a new partner for its Melbourne office, further strengthening and expanding its banking and finance expertise.
Nicola Schofield, who has over 14 years of experience in the banking and finance spaces, has joined Dentons as its newest partner.
Ms Schofield has come across from fellow BigLaw firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where she spent over six years and served as a senior associate and special counsel.
The news follows Dentons’ recent hiring of employment partner Edmund Burke from Holding Redlich in January, technology partner Michael Park from Allens in December, and the hiring of planning and environment partner Mitchell Osborne from AJ & Co Lawyers in Brisbane in mid-October.
It also follows the global practice’s launching of its combination with PJS Law, a Philippine full-service firm, earlier this month.
Doug Stipanicev, Dentons Australia regional chair and Australasia chief executive, expressed his enthusiasm about Ms Schofield’s hiring, saying: “The addition of Nicola Schofield to our banking and finance team bolsters our financial institutions practice in Melbourne and adds depth of experience to our market-leading national practice.
“Nicola’s cross-border experience will also be of immense value to our clients. It’s a pleasure to welcome her to Dentons.”
In anticipation of her new role, Ms Schofield revealed: “I look forward to joining Dentons and working alongside a well-respected team with a breadth of expertise as well as contributing to the growth of the Melbourne office.
“Being part of the world’s largest global law firm will undoubtedly offer an opportunity to add to the high-value financial services work for clients.”
