Sparke Helmore promotes 4
In a round of new year promotions, Sparke Helmore has bolstered a number of practices with the addition of three special counsel and one senior associate.
Spanning across the firm’s Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne offices, Chanel Bou-Francis, Alex Chan, Christopher Orchard and Elyse Galvin have all been promoted at national firm Sparke Helmore.
Mr Chan has also been promoted to special counsel in government public and regulatory and appears as solicitor advocate for Commonwealth agencies in administrative review of decisions made under portfolio legislation. He also provides advice on statutory interpretation and regulatory law matters for agencies.
Also, within the government public and regulatory team, Mr Orchard has been promoted to special counsel. He is an experienced litigator and solicitor advocate in merits and judicial review proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Circuit Court, and Federal Court hearings and trials and is an experienced litigator in large full Federal Court and High Court matters, predominantly in public law advising and representing both government and private clients, at both Federal and State levels.
Lastly, Ms Galvin has been promoted to senior associate within the workplace team. She is an employment lawyer who assists public and private sector clients in all aspects of employment law, and her experience includes assisting in conducting workplace investigations and advising on legislative compliance, litigation, drafting contracts and contractual disputes, unfair dismissal claims, general protection claims, workplace relations and discrimination.

She is also a keen snowboarder and pre-pandemic, spent a season living in a French ski resort.
