Stephanie Weeks is set to join Meridian Lawyers, bringing her specialised practice, which focuses on professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ liability, acting as both defence and coverage counsel on instructions from Australian and London insurers and reinsurers, ASX-listed entities, insurance brokers, and SMEs.

She has, Meridian said in a statement, represented clients in a diverse range of disputes, including actions alleging professional negligence, breach of contract, misleading or deceptive conduct, insolvent trading, oppression, wrongful dismissal, and breach of directors’ duties, and her appointment “further strengthens Meridian’s insurance law offer to clients and supports Meridian’s commitment to providing clients with exemplary insurance law services”.

Ms Weeks will join Meridian on 29 January and be based in the firm’s Sydney office.

Meridian’s substantial growth in 2023 was covered in-depth by Lawyers Weekly, here.

Speaking about the appointment, Meridian managing director Paul Baker (pictured) said: “I am thrilled to welcome Stephanie to our principal group. With her outstanding track record of success and the high regard her clients and peers have for her expertise and commercial approach, Stephanie’s skills and knowledge complement and strengthen our PI and D&O offer to clients.

“There are many synergies between Stephanie’s client base and Meridian’s, including the strong relationships she has forged with a number of Meridian’s key clients. Her approach and shared values align perfectly with our goals to strengthen our brand and broaden our insurance offer.”

Ms Weeks added: “I am delighted to be a part of the firm’s growth plans.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining the business. I look forward to working with my colleagues at Meridian to continue to deliver quality advice and dispute resolution services to our clients.”
