Clayton Utz promotes 3 to partnership
BigLaw firm Clayton Utz has promoted three new partners across a variety of practice areas.
New partners Mark Brady, William Howe and Katherine Mallik bring decades of legal expertise to their new roles, which are effective as of this month.
“Clayton Utz is filled with many smart and talented people. I’ve always been proud to work for Clayton Utz, but now, as a partner, it takes on an even greater meaning,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to contributing to maintaining the firm’s reputation as a great place to work, supporting my clients and contributing to the strategic direction of the firm.”
Mr Howe first joined Clayton Utz in 2022 to lead the firm’s data analytics practice within forensic and technology services. He develops custom technology solutions to automate and streamline tasks, often incorporating artificial intelligence (AI), for both clients and internal use.
“It’s a privilege to work with clients that play such an important role in Australian society and an honour to be promoted to partner,” Mr Howe said.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to support our firm, our people and our clients on critical legal issues.”
Major projects and construction partner Ms Mallik joined Clayton Utz as a graduate of the University of Newcastle and has spent most of her career at the firm. She has broad expertise in supporting clients through procurement, property, environment, commercial and performance-related legal issues arising throughout the different stages of a project’s life cycle.
“While being promoted to partner represents a very significant milestone in my own career, it will also mean that I can contribute more broadly to the firm, its clients and its staff – and I’m really excited to have that opportunity,” she said.
“I look forward to helping to build on the excellence that Clayton Utz offers.”
Commenting on the promotions, chief executive partner Emma Covacevich said the partners were set to make a big impact in 2024.
“Mark, William and Katherine bring diverse skill sets and experience to their work in areas of increasing importance for many of our clients. Their well-deserved promotions reflect their commitment to excellence, leadership, and client-centric and innovative thinking,” she said.
“We’re delighted to welcome Mark, William and Katherine to our Clayton Utz partnership and look forward to the impact they will continue to make for our clients and our firm.”
