Piper Alderman has promoted 16 professionals to more senior roles, including three to partner, in its new-year promotion round for 2024.

The firm’s new partners are Steven Pettigrove, Juniper Watson, and Beau Weigand.

Mr Pettigrove is in the firm’s financial services and fintech team in Melbourne, Ms Watson is in the projects, infrastructure, and construction practice in Adelaide, and Mr Wiegand is in the dispute resolution and litigation team in Sydney.

Elsewhere, the newest senior associates are Piyush Bohara, Damon Nicholson, Oliver Radan, and Jack Ragg, and the new associates are Jack Dean, George Komninos, Georgia Matthews, Essi Merivaara, Daniel Paske, Suji Shin, Cristian Sotelo, Nathanael van der Reyden, and Allyson Yule.

The news follows the firm’s hiring of a partner from a Perth-based boutique last month, taking of a team from EY in mid-July, its appointment of a property partner from Holding Redlich in the same month, its appointment of a Perth-based projects partner from a boutique firm in June, and its promotion of 26 lawyers to more senior roles, including two to partner, just before the end of financial year (EOFY).

It also follows the appearance of Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones and chief operating officer Chris McLean on an episode of LawTech Talks, in which they reflected on the role of law firms as legal departments reinvent themselves.

Mr Britten-Jones said that the promotions “signify Piper Alderman’s commitment to recognising and advancing the talents of its dedicated professionals, and we look forward to the continued success and contributions of Steven Pettigrove, Juniper Watson, Beau Weigand, and all our promoted colleagues in the coming year”.

“As a firm, we are proud of our career development and training initiatives within a dynamic, high-performance environment that values support and collaboration,” he said.

“We consistently attract, train, and retain top-tier professionals, dedicated to fostering a culture where individuals thrive. Our focus is on the people who make our firm successful.”
