Allens partner to join Dentons
Global law firm Dentons has moved to bolster its cyber security, privacy, and technology expertise with the appointment of a partner from BigLaw rival Allens, who will start with the firm in the new year.
Michael Park is set to join Dentons in its Melbourne office. He will commence with the global player on 15 January 2024.
In his new role at Dentons, he will advise on technology procurement and business process outsourcing, providing advisory services for data governance and AI, as well as telecommunications infrastructure and regulatory projects.
Mr Park has spent nearly seven years at Allens as a partner, and prior to that, he was a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright for over 15 years.
The news follows the hiring of a planning and environment partner in Brisbane in mid-October, a corporate partner in Sydney in late September and another in mid-June, and a patents partner in mid-February. In July, the firm promoted 14 professionals, including four to its partnership ranks.
It also follows the firm’s cutting of ties with Chinese firm Dacheng in August, the commencement of its combination with Link Legal in India in May, and its announced combination with Philippine firm PJS Law in March.
Speaking about the appointment, Dentons Australian regional chair and Australasian chief executive Doug Stipanicev said: “Michael’s extensive knowledge will greatly benefit our clients. The need for privacy, cyber security, data governance, and digital transformation expertise is critical to businesses of all sizes and sectors.
“This is not just a strategic hire; it’s a necessity to support our clients’ needs and reinforce our commitment to excellence in legal services.”
Mr Park added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Dentons, where I can add value and work collaboratively with partners across the firm to benefit clients. I’m looking forward to integrating quickly into the fabric and culture of the world’s largest global law firm.”
