Piper Alderman hires another partner for Perth office
National law firm Piper Alderman has continued to grow its Perth-based team, this time appointing a new partner for its projects, infrastructure, and construction team.
Katie Winterbourne (pictured) has joined Piper Alderman, having come across from Lantegy Legal, which she was a director of for nearly eight years.
The news follows the firm’s taking of a team from EY in mid-July, its appointment of a property partner from Holding Redlich in the same month, its appointment of a Perth-based projects partner from a boutique firm in June, and its promotion of 26 lawyers to more senior roles, including two to partner, just before the end of financial year (EOFY).
Ms Winterbourne brings, Piper Alderman said in a statement, more than 25 years of experience in providing strategic commercial legal advice within the resources, energy, and infrastructure sectors. She advises, the firm continued, on project planning, development, operations, and closure and negotiates the associated commercial and stakeholder documents, and assists clients in obtaining and maintaining project tenure and regulatory approvals, including working with state agreements.
Speaking about the appointment, Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones said: “We are very excited to be welcoming Katie to our team. Her wealth of experience and deep understanding of the legal landscape in Western Australia will undoubtedly enhance our capabilities.
“While Piper Alderman is a national firm, our approach to expansion is about finding the best local people with local knowledge and supporting them to deliver industry-leading advice and services to clients.
“Katie’s reputation as a distinguished lawyer in the field, coupled with her commitment to environmental matters, aligns perfectly with our values and goals. We look forward to her contributions and continued success at Piper Alderman.”
Piper Alderman Perth office head Shane Entriken added: “Katie’s appointment strengthens our local expertise in an area that is growing and has been very strong for the firm nationally.
“By welcoming Katie to our team, we further reinforce our capabilities in the major projects space.”
Ms Winterbourne said: “I am thrilled to become a part of Piper Alderman’s established projects, infrastructure and construction practice, and I am excited to contribute to the growth of this practice in Western Australia.
“Western Australia supports a vibrant economy with many resources, energy transition and agribusiness projects on the horizon, which must be developed in a sustainable manner.”
