Scott Puxty (pictured) has rejoined Sparke Helmore, where he started his legal career. He brings his practice with him to the BigLaw firm.

Mr Puxty is, the firm said in a statement, “a well-known and respected lawyer” with a practice that spans the areas of corporate and commercial law and commercial litigation and who has “extensive experience” in alternative dispute resolution and combines this with a comprehensive understanding of commercial law to achieve practical client focussed outcomes.

The news follows the firm’s addition of a partner from rival national firm Holding Redlich for its Brisbane office back in July, as well as its promotion of 28 lawyers to more senior roles in the same month.

Mr Puxty will be based in the firm’s Newcastle office.

Speaking about the appointment, Sparke Helmore national corporate and commercial practice group leader Julien Castaldi said: “We are pleased that Scott has decided to rejoin Sparke Helmore; Scott was a law clerk with the firm back in the early 1990s!

“I have also personally worked with Scott in the past and know that he will add a great deal of value to our business in the Hunter Valley and across regional NSW, enhancing our growth pathway.”

Mr Puxty added: “I am excited about returning to Sparke Helmore, where I commenced my legal career.

“The move provides enormous opportunities, and I am particularly looking forward to collaborating with a number of people I have previously worked with throughout my legal career.”
