Partner Troy Gurnett and senior associate Liam Maguire (both pictured) have joined Hicksons in the firm’s Sydney office.

Mr Gurnett, the firm said in a statement, is an “accomplished commercial litigator with over 20 years’ experience” who will work across claims involving contracts and equity, matters pertaining to the Corporations Act and regulatory issues, disputes over copyright and trademark, cases concerning confidential information and trade secrets, as well as administrative law concerns.

Mr Maguire has nearly a decade of experience and is a “seasoned commercial litigator”, Hicksons said, working across matters covering complex contractual and equitable claims, as well as diverse regulatory matters.

The news follows the firm’s promotion of 10 lawyers to more senior roles in late June.

In the same month, Hicksons managing partner Stewart Cameron spoke with the firm about its ongoing priorities and challenges moving forward.

Speaking about the appointments, Mr Cameron said: “We extend our warmest welcome to Troy and Liam joining our firm, and together, their expertise makes them a strong addition to the litigation team as we continue to deliver on our strategy for growth across new service areas.”

Commercial dispute resolution partner Chloe Ellis added: “We are excited to have both Troy and Liam join our team, particularly as we shift towards developing new talent and expertise and expand our litigation services across new sectors.”
