Mr Thirgood (pictured) has served on the board for over a decade, with the last four years as its chairman.

He has been with BigLaw firm McCullough Robertson for nearly 23 years, including almost eight as its head of arbitration.

His tenure with Resolution Institute, the organisation said in a statement, “has been marked by dedication, commitment, and exemplary leadership”, and under his chairmanship, it “has made significant strides and achievements”.

Mr Thirgood expressed his confidence in the future of Resolution Institute under the leadership of its chief executive officer, Amber Williams, adding that he believes that now is the opportune moment for new energy and fresh ideas to take the helm and lead Resolution Institute to even greater heights.

“Resolution Institute is in great shape with Amber at the helm, and the time is right for fresh energy and ideas. I’m very confident that Resolution Institute will go from strength to strength,” he proclaimed.

Ms Williams added: “I want to thank Russell for his outstanding leadership and wish him success in his future endeavours.

“It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside Russell for the past four years, and Resolution Institute is stronger for his contributions.”

Mr Thirgood will continue to sit as a full-time independent arbitrator and expert determiner, specialising in complex and high-value construction and infrastructure, energy, renewables, natural resources, and commercial disputes, practising out of Brisbane, London, and Washington, DC.
