JWS appoints IP special counsel from Corrs as newest partner
National law firm Johnson Winter Slattery has hired an intellectual property special counsel from fellow BigLaw firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth, who will join its partnership.
Chrystal Dare (pictured) has joined JWS, bringing more than 15 years of experience as an intellectual property litigator and adviser. She specialises in copyright, trademarks, misleading conduct, designs, domains, GIs and other international issues in IP across sectors, including technology, FMCG, health, energy and resources, the arts, and luxury goods, the firm said in a statement.
The news follows the firm’s appointment of a tax special counsel from BHP in mid-June, a partner from Jones Day in July and a partner from Baker McKenzie in early August, as well as its promotion of 18 lawyers to more senior roles in early June and a further five to partner later that month.
JWS managing partner Jeremy Davis said: “Chrystal is an exceptional IP lawyer, having protected some of the world’s most iconic trademarks.
“Her experience complements our strong IP advisory and disputes capability, and we are delighted to have Chrystal join us to build out our Melbourne IP team.”
Ms Dare added: “I am thrilled to be joining such a dynamic firm as JWS in this highly regarded intellectual property team, and look forward to growing the practice in Melbourne.”
