Carter Newell has promoted Stephanie Levesque to special counsel. She works in insurance in the firm’s Brisbane office, and she joined the firm as a graduate.

The firm has also elevated Abraham Hopkins (construction and engineering, Brisbane), Grace Hailstones (insurance, Melbourne), and Molly Shelton (energy and resources and planning and environment, Brisbane) to associate.

The promotions are effective as of 1 October.

The news follows the firm’s promotion of seven lawyers in late June as well as its elevation of another seven in early February.

Speaking about the latest round of promotions, firm managing partner Paul Hopkins said: “We’ve always had a philosophy of promoting our own, and some of the lawyers we’ve elevated have been with Carter Newell since the beginning of their careers.”

“Congratulations to Stephanie Levesque, Abraham Hopkins, Grace Hailstones and Molly Shelton on your elevations.”

Elsewhere, the firm has hired Peter Motti as its newest special counsel, who will reside in the firm’s corporate practice.

Mr Motti has come across from Kardos Scanlan, and prior to that, he was a senior associate and associate at Dentons and a lawyer and graduate at MinterEllison.

He has, Carter Newell said, “extensive experience” advising clients, both nationally and internationally, on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, employee share schemes, commercial contracts, and general commercial matters within a broad range of industry sectors, including agriculture, technology, engineering and infrastructure, government, real estate, and communications.

Mr Hopkins said he is “pleased” to welcome Mr Motti to the firm’s corporate team.

Carter Newell has offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
